His work has focused on improving people’s quality of life and contributing to the understanding of some of the most pressing health challenges of our time. Throughout his career, Alan has combined academic expertise with a practical commitment to improving public health and shaping research that benefits future generations.
Alongside his professional achievements, Alan has been an active campaigner for over 20 years, working on both local and national environmental issues. He has co-ordinated campaigns ranging from clean air and water quality to sustainable development and climate action, demonstrating his belief that protecting the environment is inseparable from protecting human health. Outside of his professional and campaigning life, Alan enjoys a wide range of activities that keep him connected to both culture and community. He is a strong supporter of live music, rugby, and football, and continues to play cricket himself. His greatest wish is that his nieces, nephews, and all the children of today and tomorrow inherit a liveable, sustainable future. By standing for the Green Party, Alan is committed to ensuring that the decisions we make today put people, health, and the planet first.
