St Michael ward is in the heart of Kettering, on the southern side of the Town Centre. The area is predominantly residential, with a mix of house styles and ages. St Michaels and All Angels church (above) is a huge part of the community, running lots of events throughout the year, additionally the ward is home to a number of schools and Kettering Fire station.

Polly lives on Garfield Street, and both her children went to Hawthorn Primary (one is now at Bishop). She’s a single mum who has worked in a care home, at The Green Patch, at a SEND school and most recently, has created a CIC (Community Interest Company) to use board games in education. She’s very active in the community too.
She’s the chair of the Friends of Hawthorn PTA and has been for the last five years
Organises the annual Headlands Street Sale (watch out for news on the date for this year’s soon)
Organises the Christmas Advent Window trail
Regularly volunteers at St Michael’s Church, including the annual Plant Sale
Organised the family fun days as part of the Save Weekley Hall Wood campaign
Volunteers at Kettering Arts Centre, litter picks and most recently at the Great Kettering Spring Clean! 
She really works hard for the area and is a very lovely person too 💚

Julia is a local author and editor. She is also a yoga teacher. Her last book was about Northamptonshire’s Jurassic Way footpath and she writes the Saturday arts supplement for the NN Journal. Julia helped organise the first Kettering Festival of Literature and is a keen supporter of the local arts scene.
